Kitchener, ON, May 22, 2008—Transfreight’s new 268,000 square foot logistics centre in Woodstock, Ontario, is now operational. Located adjacent to Toyota’s Woodstock manufacturing plant (under construction) along highways 401 and 403, the centre provides crossdocking and several other capabilities such as yard management and control. Its on-the-floor scanning technology is fully integrated with both Toyota’s ordering system and Transfreight’s external logistics system, providing full visibility to shipments as they travel through the crossdock. The centre features 64 dock doors (with expansion capability to 96) and 65 team members (slated to grow to 120+).
“Our new Toyota-dedicated facility is just one example of how Transfreight is continuing to grow and expand its capabilities to provide lean logistics services to top manufacturers in North America,” said Transfreight Chief Operating Officer David Burns. “This strategic new centre enables us to continue building on our 20-year relationship with Toyota. It’s another step in our ongoing initiatives to provide them with the highest quality third-party logistics services possible.”
Transfreight broke ground for the Woodstock centre in July 2007. Construction took nine months, and the centre began operations during the week of March 25, working in conjunction with Transfreight’s nearby Cambridge Logistics Centre (CLC). CLC team members were migrated to Woodstock to meet the increasing scheduled loads and unloads. To ensure a smooth transition for Toyota, team members from additional Transfreight facilities also assisted with the startup.
