Community Commitment

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Transfreight is committed to positively impacting the communities we live and work in … both now and for future generations.

In the spirit of the kaizen culture in which we operate daily, we also continuously strive to work in harmony with the environment.

Through strong corporate governance, we ensure that we’re able to continue to serve our customers, as well as support our company and its initiatives, team members and their families, communities, and the environment.

Transfreight team members are encouraged to take leadership roles in the CSR program, as well as in their communities and their professional spheres. They’re challenged to apply the same creativity, skills, and follow-through to their chosen CSR initiatives as they do with our customers daily.

Transfreight
recognized with Mitsui CSR Award
In February 2009, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Transfreight's parent company) recognized Transfreight with its highest award for CSR achievement. Evaluation criteria included whether initiatives strengthened "coexistence with local communities", as well as whether they serve as models for other Mitsui companies.

During the 2007-08 period covered by the award, Transfreight completed 20+ CSR initiatives, including food and clothing drives benefiting food banks, charity event sponsorship, refurbishment at a park, recycling and other environment-centered activities, "adopting" less-fortunate families, and raising awareness about health risks.

"Our company is committed to giving back to our communities," said Chairman/CEO Chris Painter. "We stronglty believe the greatest impact comes through the combination of company funding and our employees' personal contributions of time and energy. We are very proud of the positive impacts we are able to make as we work together."

Proof of delivery reporting increases efficiency at major manufacturer

Challenge
A major manufacturer was faced with the challenge of maintaining control and visibility of inventory on their docks and in the yard, because they relied heavily on manual receiving processes and yard audits. In a JIT environment, this information couldn’t be compiled / analyzed quickly enough to be useful, nor could much of it be considered accurate given the manually intensive process. Something needed to be done quickly to ensure control of the entire production system, so the customer approached Transfreight.
